The P4050 (DPF) Pressure Sensor is used to optimize the reduction of particulate mater (PM) in diesel exhaust. For example, system back pressure is measured to determine when a diesel particulate trap or filter (DPT or DPF) becomes clogged. Back pressure rises as the amount of particulate matter increases. Recent regulations require exhaust gas monitoring and filtering in diesel engines to remove Particulate Matter (PM). Two common methods are Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) monitoring and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. Kavlico has led the way in these areas and was the first to mass produce a differential pressure sensor for DPF that indicates to the system when it should regenerate or burnout toxic exhaust particulates.
