The RP Series is a line of thermal protectors designed for recessed lighting. Recessed luminaires operate in confined, high-heat, hard-to-reach environments, often installed inside insulated or non-insulated ceilings where heat cannot dissipate as easily as open-air fixtures. UL 1598, CSA C22.2 No. 250.0, and NFPA 70 (NEC) require recessed luminaires to remiain safe under thermal conditions to prevent fire hazards.

Sensata's RP Series of bi-metal thermal protectors provide the required temperature-limiting safety function to help ensure compliance with these safety standards. In fault conditions the temperature will rise until the bi-metal reaches its trip point. The protector then opens the circuit, turning the light off and allowing the system to cool before automatically resetting.
