An Hydrogen train in Brescia
In Rovato, in the province of Brescia, the first of 14 Alstom Coradia Stream H hydrogen trains purchased by FNM as part of the H2iseO project has arrived
Thanks to funding from Regione Lombardia and the PNRR. The train comes directly from Alstom’s test circuit in Salzgitter, Germany, where, since last February, it has undergone static and low-speed dynamic tests. At the new hydrogen maintenance and refueling facility in Rovato – the first in Italy built specifically for these operations – the manufacturer Alstom and the hydrogen supplier Sapio will carry out infrastructure testing and train refueling trials.
The commercial entry into service of hydrogen trains on the Brescia-Iseo-Edolo non-electrified line, managed by Trenord for FERROVIENORD, marks a key milestone in the H2iseO project, which aims to establish Italy’s first Hydrogen Valley in the Brescia area. Promoted by FNM, FERROVIENORD, and Trenord, the project aims to develop a hydrogen-based economic and industrial supply chain in Valcamonica, starting with sustainable mobility, supporting the region's energy transition, and contributing to the decarbonization of a significant portion of public transport.
This highly innovative initiative includes, in addition to the Rovato facility, the construction of three dedicated hydrogen production, storage, and distribution plants in Brescia, Iseo, and Edolo.
We remind you that our company, GVZ Components, specializes in the supply of industrial sensors and has selected a range of products for hydrogen detection, ensuring the safety of facilities, vehicles, and personnel.
